Use Of Waist Cinchers To Slim Down The Waistline

Women take drastic measures to make their waists Sleek, smart and thin. Waist cincher also known as waspie is one of these. These corsets often caused women to faint in the early days, when their want to appeal to other’s eyes, lead them to tighten the belts of their cinchers so much so that they fainted! This belt worn around the waist makes it physically smaller if not giving the illusion of being so.

However when Dior launched the “New Look” in 1947, it gave the waspie it’s much needed comfort and practicality. Brought into the fashion with its new facelift, these belts became an essential undergarment for those planning to carry forward the “New Look” of Dior.

Compared to its Victorian counterpart, this new look of Dior were only 6 to 7 inches long. They were extremely light and contained what was known as feather boning. Worn over a girdle, these garments would immediately flatten and distribute the tummy fat in such way that it brought out the best tone and figure. The Waist Cincher was hailed as a revolutionary twist to the age old product.

In the 80′s they added elastic fabrics with softer stiffeners to these waist cinchers hence making them all the more comfortable to wear. Thus we see that the corset like Victorian approach soon progressed into a much more comfortable and wearable alternate.

Ribbon corset and pseudo-ribbon corset, which replaced the fabric base of the waist cincher with ribbon and cloth, thus making a much more practical garment for everyday use, are other alternates that were introduced.

Today waist cinchers are available in all sorts of materials and price ranges. Hence women from all walks of life are given access to the concept of comfortable undergarment that will make their waists look better toned, better curved and much more gorgeous.

Waist cinchers is the best short cut available to achieving the perfect waist temporarily for the night party or the cocktail gathering. They make dresses look as beautiful as the women wanted them to be!

They have been used in one form or the other since Victorian ages, however the ones available to the women today are far more comfortable to use. They are now included in the essential undergarments and are a great help in accentuating the beauty of the dress being worn on top of it.
